I've been thinking about the how-to-be-likable phenomenon for years, and below are my hypotheses.
To be likable (as female), you need:
-to be ugly. So that you're not a threat to other women
-to be pretty. So that you accommodate others with a good physical presence when in public
-to have only close girl friends. So that you don't cause suspicion or attract attention by the opposite sex
-to dress modestly. Again, so that you don't attract attention
-to be smiley, happy, positive, and bubbly. So you don't let your own emotions ruin other people's moods, and so that men can see that you're a problem-free android
-to not cause any controversy. So that you're really an opinion-less, docile, and harmless person on everyone's "good side"
