1. Being Mortal- Atul Gawande
2. Animal Farm- George Orwell
3. The Schopenhauer Cure- Irving Yalom
4. My Age of Anxiety- Scott Stossel
5. The Fortress of Solitude- Jonathan Lethem
6. Wind/Pinball - Haruki Murakami
7. Darkness Visible- William Styron
Embarrassingly unfinished:
8. The Gift of Therapy- Irving Yalom
9. Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World- Haruki Murakami
10. Infinite Jest- David Foster Wallace (second time appearing on the "unfinished" list. Considering cutting the book into pieces for accessibility)
I didn't read as much this year due to my academic priorities, and sadly, the books that I did read weren't all that pleasurable. The only recommended reading on this list is Being Mortal (and Animal Farm, but I think everyone already read that in 8th grade).
And a few prospective readings for 2016:
1. The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
2. The Splendid Things We Planned by Blake Bailey
3. 24/7: Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep by Jonathan Crary
4. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
